Argentario in Maremma Tuscany


Tuscan Maremma is definitely worth visiting if you want to go sightseeing. In the Italian province of Grosseto in the region of Tuscany, there lays the vibrant municipality of Monte Argentario considered to be the top tourist spot in Maremma and entire of Tuscany. Simply called Argentario, the place is a total stand-out.

Argentario’s main attraction is its exquisitely unique landscape. Its breathtaking feature makes the area appear like an island connected by two sandbars known in the place as ‘tomboli’ reaching to mainland Italy. These strips of land are Tombollo della Giannella which connects Argentario to the north, and Tombollo della Feniglia which attaches it to the south. These two tombolis are surrounded by pinewoods which provide easy and comfortable access to Argentario from the Tyrennian coast.

Argenatario’s landscape is perfect for different recreational activities such as hiking and cycling. For golf enthusiasts, there is the Argentarion Golf Club, a popular commercial golf club located in the center of the municipality where golfers can play and practice their swings. Since the area is neighboring the Tyrrhenian Sea, visitors cannot miss the lovely coasts of fine beaches and swimming sites where two distinct lagoons can be easily spotted. The place is a supreme hideaway that’s why tourists keep on coming to the region all year long.

Basically, Argentario is divided into two districts namely Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano. These are important busy commercial districts that have equally appealing marvelous tourist attractions. Seeing the places around by car is a delightful thrill since the ride down the road is already a panoramic sight. If you prefer to travel around by boat, you can ferry around the rocky coasts seeing raised posts and ancient watchtowers which are nice views to behold.

For those who love to frolic in the beaches, Argentario is blessed with waters that will appeal to beach lovers. Wild mortises and beautiful beaches are plenty in the place. You can never go wrong choosing Argentario as a perfect diving destination because of its diverse shallow patches of reefs and astonishing sights of deep-seated marine walls and caves.

The customs and heritage of the ancient town of Argentario depict of a very interesting history as the place bears Etruscan roots. History accounts that Spain colonized the area until the Kingdom of Italy gained control following the defeat of Napoleon the Great in 1815.

If you are planning of a great holiday getaway with friends and loved ones, Argentario is the perfect place to visit you won’t surely get enough of. With Grosseto and Florence not so distant from the town, getting to these places is easy by bus rides or by airplanes. There is also an abundant presence of villa rentals in the area that accommodate large number of guests. Tourists are encouraged to visit the place anytime the entire year.
