In person, we’ve learned the correct body language to use. We not only make eye contact, we use a certain eye contact to convey that we are interested.
But online we are limited to words and words only. So, how do we flirt online?
Let’s start with our first outgoing email. The first one will either make you or break you.
First, study your “love interest’s” profile to get a feel for their personality. If he is very sincere, sending a silly email might get you off on the wrong foot. Remember, we rarely get a chance to make a second impression. If you’re going to flirt online, take the time to do it correctly.
One really nice guy I met online had a very strange, dry sense of humor. I never knew when he was kidding. Whenever I received an email from him, I would read it over and over with a furrowed brow, just trying to figure out if he was serious or not...or maybe I missed something. Was there a hidden meaning?
I let a friend of mine read the emails; she laughed and said he was just flirting with me.
I thought, “is that how to flirt online?” I hoped not...
His emails soon became too much work. Eventually I told him we didn’t have anything in common, and left it at that. I’m sorry...it took the fun out of online dating!
Here are a couple of my favorite outgoing emails that have worked for me for many years, and I still use them.
“I was strolling around and I noticed your light was on and decided to poke my head in and say hello. So, what are you doing with yourself this evening?”
Or...
“I was just wandering around Cyber Singles Land. Not too sure where I was heading...I saw the cutest little angel and decided to ask for directions. I asked where I could find a tall, handsome gentlemen with a heart of gold. She directed me to your place. I was a little disappointed that you weren’t home. So, instead of leaving a note, I left a little love, from San Jose. When you get the chance, I hope you will take the time to return the visit. Looking forward to hearing from you...soon.
