If you are looking at rounding the corners of your documents, business cards, id badges and laminated materials chances are you will need a corner rounder. Cornerounders (sometimes called corner cutters or round cornering machines) are designed to cut a square corner into a round one. All cornerounders accomplish the same basic task. 1. Power: Most smaller corner rounding machines that are available on the market are manual and require you to pull a handle to round the corners of your documents. These manual devices work fine but can be a little bit difficult to use. With manual corner rounders, you have to hold the documents with one hand and pull the handle with the other. It can be difficult to hold the documents tight in the corner rounder while pulling the handle at the same time. As an alternative, electric corner rounding devices are available which allow you to hold your documents with both hands while you round the corners.
2. Capacity: One of the main things that sets round cornering machines apart from each other is the capacity of paper that they can handle at one time. Some round cornering machines can only handle a couple of sheets at a time while others are able to deal with up to an inch in one pass. Most electric corner rounding devices have smaller capacities but offer better productivity since it is easier to round documents with the electric mechanism.
3. Table Size: As a general rule, the larger the table size on a corner rounder the easier it will be to deal with larger documents. It can be somewhat difficult to round the corners on letter sized documents with some of the smaller corner rounding devices on the market. Larger document tables come in very handy when rounding larger documents such as binding covers, flyers or signs.
4. Radius Availability: Every round cornering device requires a radius die to cut the corners of your documents. Depending on the die that you choose the radius of your corners will be different. However, not all radius sizes are available for all corner rounders. If you require an extremely large or extremely small radius your selection of available machines will most likely be limited. Keep this in mind when choosing a machine. Also keep in mind that the cost of the dies can be substantially more with some options than with others. If you are going to need multiple dies this may play a part in your decision.
