An Overview of GBC’s Modular Desktop Binding Equipment

If you are in the market for a modular desktop binding punch you are probably considering a piece of GBC equipment. GBC / IBICO has been the largest name in the binding machine and binding supplies industry for more than four decades and makes some of the finest modular binding machines on the market. However, if you are not sure what piece of equipment might be right for you, here is a quick overview of the different modular desktop punches that GBC now makes:

1. The GBC MP2000 is a fixed die punch and is available in three different varieties. The GBC MP2000PB binding machine is designed to punch a 19 hole comb pattern. The GBC MP2000W3 binding machine is designed to punch a 3:1 pitch 32 hole wire binding pattern. The GBC MP2000C4 binding machine punches a 43 hole 4:1 pitch coil binding pattern. These three punches look identical but come with different dies installed. The dies for these binding machines are not interchangeable and these binding machines are designed for medium duty punching. However, these binding machines are well built and are designed to last. They are a good choice for an office who only want s to do one style of binding.

2. The GBC MP2500ix binding machine (formerly the Ibico 640id) is a medium duty interchangeable die punch. The MP2500ix binding machine allows the user to easily switch between different binding hole patterns in order to accommodate different binding styles. The end user must simply slide the old die out and the new die in. The MP2500ix binding machine comes standard with one die and other dies can be purchased for all of the major binding styles on the market. Dies are available for Comb Binding, Wire Binding, Coil Binding, Velobind, 2 hole, 3 hole and for use with the Proclick Pronto binding system.

3. The ultimate punch in the GBC line of modular desktop equipment is the Magnapunch binding machine (formerly the Ibico 660id). This punch is truly the king of punches and will stand up to any other punch of its kind on the market. The GBC Magnapunch binding machine includes a patented quick die change technology that is easier to use than any other interchangeable die system on the market. The Magnapunch binding machine is equipped with both a touch sensitive switch and a foot pedal for increased productivity. The horizontal punching design of the Magnapunch binding machine provides for an accurate and efficient punching experience that is unrivaled in the industry. Although other companies may make punches that can punch slightly more sheets per lift, no other punch is as easy to use as the Magnapunch binding machine. It truly is the best of the best when it comes to binding equipment.

Each of the three types of punches discussed above is designed to be used along with GBC’s line of modular desktop finishing equipment. GBC’s modular comb binding openers, wire binding closers and coil binding inserters are designed to be stacked on top of the punch in order to save space and provide an aesthetically pleasing binding system.
