| Ways to Get Rid of Ringworm |
You have discovered a spot, a round red itching spot, on your body. Unfortunately, you have ringworm, a fungal infection. To get rid of ringworm is difficult and yes, it is contagious, especially if you have an open wound, or break in your skin. You probably contracted the fungus from someone already infected, but since it takes about 5 days from the time it enters your body until a spot appears, it will be hard to identify the person who gave it to you. If hair exists at the spot where the ringworm threatens, it is best to remove it.
Once the spot is clean and hairless, to get rid of ringworm, apply Lamisil, an antifungal cream that is specific for many types of fungal infections.
Cover the spot with a bandage to avoid rubbing the Lamisil off the area.
It will take 2 to 4 weeks to get rid of ringworm, following this advice consistently. You may find it necessary to complement the topical Lamisil treatment with an oral medication, if it does not clear up. You should consult your personal physician about this.
The best preventative is to keep your skin clean and free from breaks or irritants. As mentioned, this condition is contagious, so be kind and refrain from infecting others.
