| Struggling Moms Can Get Help By Getting a Degree With Obama's New Scholarship Program |
It is a sad but true fact that many mothers across the nation are struggling to not only raise their children on little money, but at times, just trying to survive. It was not that long ago that, as children, women were taught what was considered the basics – how to cook, clean and help raise the children. Seldom were they encouraged with words about aspiring to a higher education in order to get a "good job". They believed that their life would be as part of the family with a spouse who would support them while she attended to the children.
Now they have grown up and have children of their own; unfortunately, often times it is as a single parent without an adequate education, unprepared for what life has thrown at them. The education that they need and desire takes a backseat to helping their families survive.
Thankfully, there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel for these mothers due to President Obama's scholarship for mothers program. He knows very well the types of difficulties that a mother has to face when her education is interrupted or even non-existent, as his own mother had put her education on hold for many years before returning to school to earn her degree. He has made it possible for mothers to continue or even begin their education by designing scholarships directed only towards these women. This has been done in the hope that it will provide enough aid for these hard working moms to go to school, earn their degree and increase their employment options.
