Mothers Have Their Pick of High Paying Careers Thanks to Scholarships From Obama's Federal Program

If that title sounds just a little too simple, then good! But think of it as just a very brief summary of the opportunities available now through the recent federal investment in educating and retraining the nation's workforce.

Careers in Business? These will certainly increase over the next few years as businesses take advantage of the $10 Billion offered for them to the form of tax credits for the jobs they create and the investments they make.

Careers in Transportation? This is one of the strongest areas. As the nation moves to improve highways, bridges, public transit and light rail, the number of workers expected to fill these jobs is huge: almost 1 million.

Careers in Health Care? As the nation moves to make record keeping more efficient and reduce costs, the need for workers in the electronic records fields will grow. This one $19 Billion modernization program will demand trained workers. Another $10 Billion will be spent to create jobs in research.

Careers in Energy? Another huge area of growth, with a predicted 500,000 jobs within the next two years.

See, you do have choices! And how you pay for whatever field interests you also offers choices.

Increased funding for Pell Grants, the traditional tool used for years by many low and middle income families makes paying for tuition and books much easier, up to $5,500 this year. The American Opportunity Tax Credit has a new cap of $2,500. Add to these figures, money made available by your state and you may begin to see how possible this all can be.

So, choose your career, choose your funding. Financial aid officers, career counselors, your state unemployment office, school and government web sites are all good places to get the free and trustworthy advice you need at each step of the way.

The choices are all yours, but remember, these jobs will only be offered to those who have made the sacrifices and effort now.
