| American Moms - You Can Study With National Smart Grant and Earn Your Degree |
The American moms can avail the The National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART grant) if they are very good in their study. This grant is given to American students who are in their third and fourth year of the undergraduate program or the fifth year of a five year program. Only undergraduate students who are in receipt of Pell grants are awarded the SMART grants. The following are the eligibility conditions for being considered for the award of the grant:
1. Must be a US citizen or an eligible non US citizen.
2. Must be eligible for Pell Grant for the award year.
3. Must be enrolled at least half time in the undergraduate program.
4. Must study a major in life science, physical science, computer science, mathematics, technology, an important foreign language or a non major single liberal art.
5. Must have a score of 3.00 GPA on 4.00 scales as of the end of the second award year and continue to maintain a 3.00 GPA thereafter.
For each academic year the grant amount may go up to a maximum of $4000. When it is given along with Pell Grant, the grant amount may not exceed the cost of attendance. When the numbers of eligible recipients exceed the budget, the grant amount will be proportionately reduced.
The students must be enrolled in at least one course required for the student's National SMART grant major to avail the grant. Students who are enrolled in general education course and not in any course specific to major, are not eligible for the award of SMART grant for the semester. The SMART grants are given to prepare the students to take challenging assignments in the emerging new areas in technology and research.
