Exmoor National Park Where Wildlife and Beauty Combine

Exmoor offers a unique experience for anyone looking to really escape the stresses and strains of everyday living and invites you to see England as it once was, the combination of picturesque fishing villages and rare wildlife means you can step back in time. If you're looking for an adventure into a wild and beautiful land then Exmoor is perfect and so very rare that you can explore the countryside all day and not see another person, just rugged terrain and rare wildlife ideal for cyclists and hikers alike.

The land has been protected as a national park since 1954 even then it was starting to attract many visitors and to stop it losing its untamed landscape the National Park Authority has fought to conserve and encourage the natural heritage of the park and to encourage visitors to converge with their surrounding through understanding and appreciation of the delicate and rareness that is Exmoor.

Exmoor National Park Authority has several projects under way to protect the natural habitat of Exmoor including the Mire Project which started in 1998 and is still re wetting and reintroducing wildlife that is starting to diminish in these wetland areas. They have also been encouraging people to live in harmony with the fragile nature surrounding them in their Rural Housing Project which encourages affordable rural housing and builds communities that are prepared to respect and live along-side the wildlife in harmony. They have also co organised Snowdrop Valley with a local parish council at Cutcombe and Exmoor Knotweed Control Projects which tries to monitor the spread of the Knotweed in the countryside.

If you have an affinity with rare and unpolished nature and want to be lost in a whole new world then visiting Exmoor will help you feel the elements all around you and you will find a place of your own.
