| Scholarships for Single American Moms - Achieve Your Career Goals with Obama's Stimulus Packag |
In early 2009, the American president Barack Obama announced a scholarship program for American moms in the stimulus package-2009. The package provides the eligible single moms financial assistance to finish their degree education from where they might have left unfinished. The other benefit is the tax credit for the amount received. The nature and extend of scholarship program vary according to the course they are doing at the school. They are permitted to do a regular course or an accredited online course. The eligibility to receive the financial aid is determined through an application called Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The usual procedure to apply for the aid is to fill out the free FAFSA application provided at the FAFSA website. The printed application is also acceptable. Before applying FAFSA the applicants need to ensure to obtain the Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the US Department of Education. A Student Aid Report (SAR) is send to the eligible applicants after the processing of applications.
The crucial deciding factor to receive the Pell Grant is the applicant's income. The other factors that take into account are, work history, number of children, the fees of college and the course duration. In US a large number of schools and universities take part in the Pell Grant program of the federal government.
The grants are available for a maximum of 18 semesters with certain exceptions in some courses. The moms are free to do a regular study or a home based online study. Further, it is important to disclose other grants and scholarships that are receiving during the study in order to regulate the Pell Grant distribution only to the most deserved.
