Scholarships and Grants Available For Mothers in Various Forms To Help Pay for School


The students doing undergraduate courses are eligible for campus based aid in US. This grant is administered directly by the participating schools. An example of campus based aid is the Federal Work Study program. In this, a certain amount of money is paid to the schools which are distributed among a limited number of eligible students. If the funds are over no additional payments are made. American moms are eligible for this assistance if they are studying for an undergraduate program in an accredited school.

Benefits of Work Study program:-

Under this program part time employment is provided to the eligible undergraduate and graduate students. The students are encouraged to do community services and employment related to subject of the study. If doing off campus work, most of the work will be in non profit companies and public organizations. Work related to the study is preferred by the private companies. The payment will be made based on hours of work performed and paid at least once in a month. The rate of wages will depend on the nature of the work and should not be less than the prevailing minimum rate of wages for the specified work. The work hours assigned to each student are based on the class schedule and academic progress.

Institutional Grants:-

These grants are provided to a limited number of students in the form of merit awards or scholarships. Mainly this money is given to meet the difference of amount between the college costs and the financial assistance received from federal sources. Most of the institutional grants are provided based on the academic achievements but a few are given based on the income level also.

Grants to Junior Colleges in California:-

Junior colleges in California provide financial assistance to the undergraduate students. The financial aid offices of the concerned community college provide assistance to the students for availing the money. The students are required to give an application called Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
