| Profit from understanding clickthroughs |
When writing content for online marketing, it’s important that you know what you’re writing for, and adjusting to the type of click throughs you want.
A click through, simply put, is having a link within a message or article, and wanting someone to click on the link.
This is a very important and basic thing, and many people seem to get this wrong! There is psychology behind the click through, and if you don’t understand it, you’re already missing out on profitable click throughs!
MOST COMMON CLICK THROUGHS
1. Click throughs to sales pages. A link to a sales page.
2. Click throughs to a subscription. A way to retain your reader.
HOW YOU ADJUST TO THESE CLICKTHROUGHS
1. Adjusting for click throughs to sales pages. A lot of people make the mistake of trying to sell something to their list here, and start listing a long list of benefits, company information, and etc. Don’t do this! What you’re responsible for is the click through; let the sales page do the selling!
What you need to do is create some sort of interest. This is when you really need to know your niche. What keeps them awake at night? What problems do they really need to solve? You can peak curiosity by bringing up the possibility of solving their problems. This is what creates a click through to a sales page.
2. Adjust for click throughs to a subscription. I was curious as to what people are writing on their blogs these days, so I browsed through for a couple hours, looking at one blog after the next.
What I found, unfortunately, is that people are writing blogs with no intention behind them whatsoever!
For example, some blog entries are obviously written to increase credibility of the author. At the end of the blog, there wasn’t any links or forms to subscribe to the blog feed or get onto their list! What was the purpose of writing such an article if it doesn’t direct towards an end reason?
If you’re writing to create credibility with your reader, try to do so in a thoughtful and informative way. This should lead to a click through to some sort of subscription. Many people browse blogs, and then don’t come back again. Another alternative, is remembering to place a visible opt-in form somewhere on your blog.
This will make sure you retain your visitors. They become part of your list, rather than a temporary browser!
To your success!
