Making Trade Show Graphics Work For You

The right trade show graphics are crucial to the success of a trade show. This article offers some important tips you can to bear in mind to ensure that you get higher quality graphics:

1.) Choose Fabric Graphics: Fabric graphics have many factors going in their favor as compared to the traditional laminated graphics. Firstly they are light weight which directly means that they are easy to ship at lower costs. They are also more durable than laminated graphics which means further savings. The best part is that they allow exhibitors to create larger, high definition and more complex graphics which can draw attention like none other. Considering all these benefits it definitely makes a lot more sense to invest in fabric graphics. Here are some advantages of fabric graphics over traditional graphics:

1.) They are durable and can be reused again and again
2.) They can be machine washed or dry cleaned
3.) They are not prone to cracking as in the case of traditional vinyl graphics
4.) They can be ironed to remove wrinkles
5.) They are lightweight making it extremely easy to ship, use and store them
6.) They take very less storage space as they can be folded into compact cases
7.) They are affordable

2.) Keep it Simple: There is an urge inside all of us to make things complex. Designers sometimes tend to put too many words, colors or pictures into a design making it harder for the customer to interpret the main message. This is where simple wins hands down. Simple designs work magic. They carry fewer words and are easy to read and understand without unnecessary distractions. The human brain is not capable of computing large data of information in a short span of time. In a typical trade show the max attention a graphic is going to get is less than 2 seconds. If you can send across the message to your customers within these 2 seconds then you are the winner. So keep the graphics simpler and use clear and concise words that convey the message perfectly.
3.) Choose the Right Design Firm: Choosing the right design firm is crucial. The main things to take into consideration are the quote and the expertise of the firm. Find out about their past work. Ask them to send along pictures of the work done and the graphic as presented in the trade show. Call up references to find out if the work was done on time.

The second important factor is to convey the right message to the firm as to how you would want your display designed. Give them accurate details but also give them the freedom to experiment. Always deal directly with the designer who is working on your project.

4.) Use Direct Printing: There are two methods that are commonly used to print graphics on a fabric. The first process is known as 'dye sublimation process' and the second one is the 'direct printing' process. Dye sublimation can only be used on polyester fabrics and makes use of heat transfer to bond colors to the fabric. Direct printing on the other hand uses a steam process to print the ink onto the fabric. This creates sharper and well defined images that give a softer and professional look to the design. Direct printing can be done on silk and cotton fabrics. So if you desire sharper images, it is best to go for direct printing as opposed to dye sublimation printing. This of-course does not mean that dye sublimation method produces lower quality images, it’s just that direct printing offers a slightly better quality.
