With this ongoing crisis it is not difficult to get discouraged. Personal debt is growing and there are becoming less ways to pay these monies. The job market isn't growing, and with education being so expensive the opportunities to get the schooling needed to apply for the higher paying jobs are decreasing. The average family debt has now become twice as much as the income, which in simple terms, will take ages to pay off.
The government is now trying to do something about this. It has created a number of grants that are available to low income families to help them out of their struggle. There are two slight misconceptions about these that need to be cleared away
First, the bar for low income families is higher than most people believe. The bar generally falls at incomes below $30,000, and also depends on how much debt that a family has accrued.
Second, the difficulty of the application process has been exaggerated. You need to be a citizen of the United States, and you need to have a social security number. You have to have certain information at hand, such as income, debts owing, and other important documents.
After filling out the forms with this information, you can drop it off to a debt relief agency for further guidance. For this amount of effort, the time is worth it. Though you will not have all of your debt taken care of, there is a possibility of having up to 60% covered. It can get your life back into balance and you can start enjoying it a little more.
