| America Needs to Tell Advertisers to Promote Healthier Foods not Junk |
The 'hearts and minds' battle by advertisers to win over potential customers in order for them to purchase certain brands of food has adversely impacted many peoples' efforts to achieve permanent weight reduction. Celebs like Oprah Winfrey have also made weight reduction and the way we shed weight a very marketable issue on her famous talk show.
Oprah herself has suffered with a weight issue for many years and has constantly battled against weight gain and has publicly shown how hard it can be for us to get rid of fat when we are facing the constant barrage of food advertising.
Everybody at some point in his or her life has attempted to lose weight and some have been struggling unsuccessfully with losing weight for years. We have to keep away from the blame game and try to seriously fix the problem of obesity, particularly childhood obesity so society needs to impose it's demands upon advertisers.
Whilst the final goal is to achieve weight reduction and stop obesity, it is more initially much more vital to educate the population on the ways we can prepare nutritious foods and nibbles from the easily purchased fruit and vegetables that are found in all food stores across America.
There are many sites on the internet that show you which foods are beneficial for you, how to prepare them and how to combine them with other foods so you can enjoy a varied and tasty diet. Once you arm yourself with the right information and start to eat more healthily not only will your weight come down but your health will improve.
If this happened across the states the burden upon the health services would be lessened and medical insurance might actually start to come down instead of perpetually increasing due to the lower numbers of weight related health issues.
Although Americans cannot lay all the blame at the feet of the advertisers a lot of the bad habits they have are the result of pressured advertising campaigns over the years.
Teenagers are extremely impressionable, and since the 1950's they've been told by the advertisers that the place to hang out and meet your friends is the fast food joint, the drive thru' etc. and if you didn't you were not one of the gang!
What we must do is try and save billions in health insurance costs by exerting pressure on advertisers to start promoting healthier natural foods, highlighting the benefits to weight loss and health. The blame cannot be placed upon the shoulders of the victim any more.
