| How to Enjoy Going to The Restaurant When on a Diet |
One of the hardest things to enjoy when on a diet is going out for a meal at a restaurant. You do not want to be unsociable by declining an invite yet on the other hand you know only too well that you will end up putting on weight if you approach the meal with reckless abandon.
Here are some tips to help you tackle this dieting dilemma.
1. Go Vegetarian:
Check to see if there are any local vegetarian restaurants you can have your meal at. This is an excellent idea as you will not need to watch everything you eat and you will not feel like the odd one out when ordering and eating your meal. This is not to say that non vegetarian meals are bad, but rather they are more difficult to keep track of in relation to fat content and calorie consumption.
2. No salad dressing:
Salads are fantastic for weight loss because raw vegetables increase your metabolism and you will end up burning more calories than you consume, but put dressing over the top of one and all the good work will be undone as the dressing is usually very high in calories. Always ensure you ask for a salad without dressing as quite often they will be served dressed.
3. Buffets are Out:
Buffet foods are high in calories, well the majority of them are as they are normally cooked in bulk and in a lot of oil. Salad buffets are, in comparison, a great option but again beware of the hidden dressings and temptation from things like salad croutons!
4. Portion Control:
Never be afraid to ask for smaller portions when dining out, it won't be the first time and it certainly won't be the last that the waiter has had this request, if however the portions arrive and are still on rather the large size, decide on the amount you are going to eat and stick to it.
The final tip is my favorite:
5. Say to hell with it, I am on one of my non diet days:
Certain weight loss plans use a process called calorie shifting that fools the body into thinking it is consuming more calories than what it actually is, and by doing so the body's metabolism still maintains a high level and doesn't adapt to the new lower level of calorie intake.
The weight loss plan of which I am talking operates on a 14 day cycle, 11 days of which you are on a structured healthy diet the other three you can eat as normal, in fact you are required to eat as normal as this is part of the reason why the body doesn't adapt to the lower level of calorie intake from the previous 11 days.(You will find more information about how this weight loss plan works at the foot of this article.)
There is nothing wrong whatsoever, with going out for a meal once in a while as long as you are sensible and do not blow all the hard work you have put in before it, you deserve it.
