| Moms Can Beat the Recession by Going Back to School Through Obama's New Scholarship Program |
The global recession has forced many countries take a second look at their policies and economies. Major efforts are being made globally to salvage the jobs of many citizens, as well as industries. The story is the same in the USA. Not long after President Obama stepped into the White House, that the country was swept in one of the worst recessions it had ever faced. Although the President is at work to resurrect his country from the mire, his focus on shaping society for a better tomorrow, has not dimmed. Young mothers who have had to give up their education to work so that their families could be provided for, have a reason to be happy.
The government helps students with low incomes through grants known as Federal Pell Grants. The grant amount has been raised to five thousand one hundred dollars, from a smaller figure of four thousand fifty dollars. This should come as good news for mothers who probably have huge expenses on their hands already and which would only increase when children come into the picture. Students who work full time and who earn low wages are eligible for this grant too. In addition, mothers have the flexibility to attend online classes too, so that they do not have to miss a single day at work, or take untimely leaves. Although there are no guarantees that a college seat is assured to anybody, the favourable program will come as a ray of hope to many students.
