| Obama's Pledge Fulfilled - Scholarships for Moms |
A significant part of Obama's campaign was his concern for struggling single moms and their inability to obtain well-paying jobs. He understood that many single moms could not pursue higher education due to lack of funds, low income, or time. As a result Obama pledged to help single moms increase their knowledge base by making it possible to pursue a college education. Recently, President Obama fulfilled his pledge through the aptly named legislation: "Scholarships for Moms Program."
The program essentially fulfills President Obama's promise of change by increasing the Federal Pell Grant from $4050 to $5500. This historic legislative action presents moms and many others an inimitable opportunity to fulfill their dreams. The grant or scholarship is available to anyone who is willing to take part in the program without fear of financial hardship. Through this program, moms can study via online courses, earn a degree, be at home with their children and conserve their family income.
Applying is easy. The first step is to choose the desired course of study (area of interest) and college of choice (traditional or online). Once the decision is made, contact the Financial Aid Department staff at the institution and advisors will provide instructions on completing appropriate forms.
The benefits of Obama's pledge (Scholarships for Moms) are unparalleled. The possibilities are endless. Moms who desire to pursue higher education can acquire: a better job, improve their earnings, and attain job security. Most importantly, they will be the skilled, qualified workers employers look for.
