| Free Grants and Scholarships for Moms or Anyone Who Applies Through Obama's Program |
President Obama has made it clear that he sees many benefits to raising the education level of America's Moms. The obvious, of course, is the improvement in employment options, long term job satisfaction and increased pay. Not so obvious, but just as valuable, is the influence her commitment will have on her children. As they watch her made the daily sacrifices necessary to finish her degree, they no doubt will see the value of deferring immediate satisfaction for long-term goals. They may become more self-reliant and responsible themselves as she asks them to "step up" and help while she is studying. They will, over time, see that she has done this for them as well, and therefore feel a need to achieve an education themselves. There is a lot of truth to the old saying, "Educate a woman and you educate a nation."
So, with all these good results flowing from a mother's education, President Obama has made financing that education a little easier. The current $5100 Pell Grant limit will be increased to $5500 in the year 2010. Also new next year will be The American Opportunity Tax Credit of $4100. This tax credit further eases the financial burden and provides another incentive for Moms to pursue their goals.
The financial aid can be used by those enrolled in either traditional, on- campus classes or for online classes. Visit with the financial aid officer of your chosen school to get help in applying for the working Mom scholarship opportunities. It takes some time, dedication and patience, but by combining these new Obama incentives with other traditional scholarships, it is possible to put together a package that will drastically reduce the individual's obligation.
