| Mother's Have An Opportunity to Go Back to School Through Grants and Scholarships |
President Obama knows the most undervalued asset in our current workforce is mothers. He also knows the benefit of higher education, and speaks at length of the dependence of the well-being of our country on our ability to remain competitive in the global community. Because of the demand of raising children and taking care of daily responsibilities, most mothers may think it impossible to return to college to finish their professional degree. President Obama has considered these challenges and has put forth new programs to make this transition much easier for mothers.
Raised by a single mother, President Obama learned early on the incredible sacrifices mothers make for their families. Perhaps this is why he has taken steps towards further incorporating mothers into the work force by giving them more incentive to begin a career path. Part of these programs has been the increase in government issued Pell Grants; previously the cap for the grant was $4500, now the cap has been raised to $5100. In addition, more than $9000 in new scholarships are available to women in this category.
Higher education is always a challenge, no matter what the circumstances may be. As mothers, we want what is best for our children, and we encourage them to stay in school and finish their degrees. What better way to show our children the benefit of a higher education than to show them? The time is now. Take advantage of these new government programs. Make your life the best example.
