Obama Administration Granting Free Scholarships for Moms Wishing to Return to School

The Obama administration has made a commitment to helping students of all ages, including Moms, to fulfill their dreams of returning to school. As millions of Americans face the ever more competitive and volatile job market, more working Moms are realizing that it's time to learn some new marketable skills.

Scholarships for Moms and financial aid are now a reality, thanks to President Obama. Adult learners have a good chance of qualifying for a combination of grants and loans that will enable them to reach their education and training goals. Recently unemployed Moms who are interested in education and training opportunities can benefit from federal, state, or institutional financial aid. For example, the Pell Grant program is available to Moms who enroll in a program leading to a professional certificate or an undergraduate degree. Funds from a Pell Grant can be used to cover tuition, books, and/or living expenses.

Moms do not need to worry about leaving their families unattended for long periods of time while they are attending classes. Financial aid can be pro-rated and made available even to students who choose to return to school on a part-time basis. This is helpful for those Moms who spent most of their time raising children. Moms who choose to stay at home can also take advantage of online education curriculums that can also be covered by scholarships.

Economic hardship is a factor which is considered by financial aid officials when granting scholarships for Moms. When money is tight, going back to school may be seen as a luxury that few can afford. The Obama administration aims to change that perception. Moms looking for financial aid may be surprised to learn that the costs of some education and training programs can be completely covered by scholarships.

There is no end to the benefits that a college degree or certificate can bring to a working Mom. The effects of the recession will be felt for a long time; and now it's the time for all Moms to take advantage of the financial aid opportunities that the Obama administration is offering.
