Healing Your Broken Heart after Rejection

There is really no normal person who would enjoy being rejected. Many people find it very difficult to cope with rejection, which can leave them very devastated. The pain of rejection is even more intense if it comes from someone who is very dear to you. This is something that is bound to break your heart. Getting over a break-up is not easy. However, there are a number of measures that will help you to pull through within a relatively short time without leaving behind adverse effects.

When your hopes of having a stable relationship that you intended to last a lifetime are broken, the following steps will help you to put your life back to shape once more.

Collect the pieces of your broken heart

When your relationship falls apart, your heart will break. No matter how many little pieces it has been broken into, you need to pick all the pieces. You should understand that life has to go on.

Do not mistake this to mean that you should not grieve your loss. By all means, cry your heart out - just do not get stuck in the grieving stage. In fact, you should avoid trying to hold down the emotions or you may end up exploding in a variety of ways, including losing your sanity.

There are various stages of grief that you will go through, and you need to know how to handle every stage.

Denial
Just after your relationship comes to an end, you will find it difficult to believe that your ex has indeed left. This is a natural way through which our minds try to protect us from hurting situations. However, the sooner you come to terms with the reality the better you will be able to move beyond the break-up.

Anger
Once you have accepted the fact that your partner is now your ex, you will feel a great sense of anger. You need to be careful with what you do during this stage, as you can easily become destructive.

Making bargains
In your effort to mend your broken relationship, you may decide to plead, beg, and make bargains with your ex. You may even begin to bargain with yourself and the world at large. Unfortunately, you are likely to regret the actions you take later on.

Depression
As the reality of your break-up sinks deeper, you are likely to become depressed. This is normal; you just have to come out of your depression quickly.

Acceptance
In your process of grieving, it is very important that you reach the acceptance stage. It is the most difficult challenge you will experience, yet without it you won't be able to get over your break-up.
