| Mothers Achieve New Levels Of Education With A Helping Hand From Obama's Scholarship Program |
The latest president has chosen to combat the recession in typical leftish fashion, by cheerfully throwing money at it. But in some cases, 'it' can mean 'you!' Lately there has been a particularly strong push at scholarships and grants to help workers get more qualified, especially mothers who are trying tu support a family.
For example, take the Pell Grant awards, that compensate for low income in the receiver with added bonus cash. They're being handed out at an all time high, thousands of of dollars each year being handed out to all and sundry. Even if you have a full time job, you can still apply and qualify for the money.
Of course, there are plenty of applicants already, hoping to get a lucky break. And so it shouldn't come as a surprise if you don't get a grant, through no fault of your own. Obama would probably love to be able to personally hand a check to every working mom in America, but the realities of bureaucracy and economics are a bit harsher than that.
Don't fret, though. These new programs weren't put into place in a vacuum bereft of other options. They were merely intended to shore things up when the already available scholarships didn't cut it. So you owe it to yourself to try applying for everything available that looks right for you. Many scholarships accept internet applications, and some outside of the Pell share its aim of specifically helping moms get some college education. A few even pay more than the Pell Grant itself! So take advantage of the new doors that are being opened, but don't neglect to check over the old ones, either.
In a world where access to college is only becoming more and more streamlined, and more and more helping hands are there to provide financial boosts to cover the entry costs, even mothers have no reason to not get higher education. Don't let the recession trick you into thinking you need to stop trying to improve yourself. On the contrary, the means are available for you to better yourself more than ever and you should grab hold of them.
