| Obama's Stimulus Package Helps Moms Go Back to School Through Scholarships and Free Grants |
One of the platforms that Obama ran on was to improve the ability of all Americans to obtain a college education. With the passing of the Stimulus Package, that platform has become a reality.
Many moms would love the opportunity to return to school and receive a college degree. In today's shaky economy, that goal may never seem feasible. It costs a lot of money to go to college and moms rarely have the extra funds available to them for such an endeavor.
For years, low-income households could get government grants for education. But these Pell grants have not kept up with the rising cost of education. Now, however, the stimulus package has drastically increased these grants and moms are finding it possible to finally enroll in school. With awards of almost $10,000.00 yearly, scholarship grants may be what finally helps many moms to see that higher education is a possibility.
But that is not all. Obama also challenged universities, technical schools and the private sector to step up private funding of grants and scholarships. Also, many industries help employees who seek to return to school. With this amount of potential help, moms owe it to themselves to take a hard look at a higher education.
It is never too late to get started. Head over to your local college and visit with the financial aid advisor. This person should be able to help you get started with the paperwork and also guide you to other funds that you may be eligible to receive. There has never been a better time for moms to go to college.
