| Obama Approves Financial Aid for Mothers Wishing to Earn Degrees |
A hot topic that dominates many a dinner table conversation throughout the country is the economy and the Federal Governments stimulus package which includes special financial aid for mothers that wish to return to school and earn a degree. However, many women are not aware of the opportunity that is available to them or they do not know how to go about utilizing the opportunities that congress has put before them. In this article we will discuss some of the financial aid programs currently available to mothers in the United States.
One example of the help available are Federal Pell grants, these are available to students who meet certain income requirements. These grants will give a student up to $5,100 to pay for their education at the college or university of their choice. The best part is these grants do not ever have to be paid back!
Unfortunately many mothers are not aware of the tax benefits that may be available to them as well. The American Opportunity Tax Credit for example, will pay the first $4,000 or more of educational expenses incurred from returning to school to earn a degree.
President Obama also recently enacted a grant commonly referred to as the 'Mom's Return to School' Government Grant Scholarship program. This program is available for students who choose to attend classes on-line as opposed to taking classes in a traditional campus setting. The option of taking classes online is very appealing to young mothers who want to be at home with their children while still being able to study at the same time.
