Why People With Bad Breath Are LITERALLY Disgusting

It's pretty difficult to come up with many things worse than bad breath. In fact, it's likely THE most unpleasant personal problem someone could have because, when you have halitosis (another name for bad breath), you literally make other people feel sick!

I'm not kidding!

One of the fundamental human emotions is disgust: whenever confronted by something likely to be infectious or in some way harmful (to your health), you recoil, wrinkle-up your nose, and perhaps even gag. These actions are sure signs of disgust and they are totally automatic. You don't have any conscious control over them. They're all actions your brain is forcing your body to carry out to try to get away from the source of potential infection or illness.

Some of the chemical compounds that have been detected in bad breath include hydrogen sulfide, which smells just like rotten eggs; skatole, which smells like feces; and putrescine, which smells like rotten meat! If you suffer from bad breath, it won't matter if a particular person thinks you're the most fantastic person they ever met because, the instant their brain notices any of these noxious smells, it recognizes them as a possible source of of infection and actually FORCES them to recoil in disgust. In other words: Their brain sees your bad breath as a potentially DANGEROUS THREAT to their physical health and well-being! That's the reason why everyone will turn away... take a step back... and will even cover over their nose whenever you are talking near them.

That's the reason why, far from being just a minor annoyance, halitosis can have a crippling effect on your your self-esteem and personal confidence.

It can completely destroy your relationships with your whole family by switching their brain into a survival mode. It can even wreck your marriage too: who, in their right mind, would want to have to kiss someone with bad breath for evermore; looking at things from the point of view of their brain, they might as well try to kiss a dog turd!

It is also the biggest turn off in almost any dating situation (even more so than body odor). In fact, in a survey carried out by the British Dental Association in the United Kingdom, bad breath was voted the MOST off-putting personal issue any person could ever have!

It has strong implications for your career path as well: if you go into an interview, and the person conducting the interview detects the smell of your bad breath, it starts alarm bells ringing in their mind. On the face of things, they may think that you have a wonderful resume and that you might very well be suited for the position, however, inside their head, their brain will be yelling at them to get away from the "source of infection" looking back at them from across the table (that's you!). Although they're not likely to to blatantly state bad breath as a reason not to hire you, the very fact that you invoked such an intense automatic (and very negative) response in their brain is going to change their decision quite a bit.
