Diabetes is a condition that occurs when the body is unable to convert glucose into energy. The hormone insulin which helps in the conversion is found in low quantities or may not be utilized by the body appropriately in such situations.

There are many symptoms that indicate the presence of diabetes in the body and include increased appetite, dry skin, vision issues, breathing infections, weakness and fatigue, extraordinary urination for example.

Diet can play an important role in keeping diabetes under check. The aim of a diabetes diet is to provide you all these essential nutrients and also create a balanced sugar level in the body. There are several factors that you should consider when deciding a diabetes diet. Some of these factors include your age, gender, height, weight and the amount of physical activity. Also, you must adjust your diet in accordance with your insulin doses. If you are dealing with other problems such as high cholesterol or blood pressure, make sure that your diet does not aggravate these problems.

Start your day with a glass of warm water. You might also take lemon juice in the beginning of the day. Ideally, your breakfast should consist of fruits. Try and go in for fruits that are low in sugar such as guavas, pomegranates, pineapple and oranges. A slice of whole grain bread with butter and a glass of milk can also make for a good breakfast.

Steaming is the best cooking methodology. If you're a non vegetarian then choose reduced fat meat. Do not eat red meat as it is heavy in fat. Condiments are also loaded in sugar so they have to be avoided. Try to use ketchup, mustard and other dressings to minimum possible.

Just keep these dietary suggestions in mind and you'll be able to manage your diabetes efficiently.
