5 Ways to Speed Up Windows XP


Have you recently noticed the speed of your Windows XP system? Is your system working slowly? Does your Windows XP system taking a long time to startup and shutdown? It is not always recommended for a hardware upgrade to speed up Windows XP. Then here are some tweaks to speed up Windows XP.
When the system is booted, a lot of changes take place in windows registry and many program entries are loaded into it. Many programs run at startup and continue to run till the system is shutdown. Whenever new Programs or softwares are installed, their entries are updated in Windows registry. If the software is not uninstalled properly, it leads to the redundant data in the Windows registry called registry errors or invalid entries. This also is the main reason in fragmentation of registry. Many malwares also add unnecessary entries into the registry. These registry errors decrease the Speed of Windows XP.

Then what are the ways to Speed up Windows XP?

-> Control panel
-> Add or Remove programs
-> Add or Remove components
-> Uncheck Indexing services
-> Click Next

4. Improve Startup time

To stop the unnecessary programs to run at startup, follow these instructions.

-> Click on Start
-> Click on Run
-> Type in “msconfig” click Ok
-> Click on Startup tab
-> Uncheck every item that is not needed. Do not Uncheck Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware software.
-> Restart the system when prompted.

5. Perform Disk Defragmentation as the response time to search for a fragmented file is more and it decreases the speed of Windows XP. Disk Defragmentation speeds up access time.
