    Add Humor to Your Posters

Humor works. This is easily the best advice I got from poster printing companies. Humor is universal, which means it cuts across sectors. A humorous quip or a funny image will elicit a smile from both the young and the old and from both sexes.

So if you are in a bind as to what the content should be for your print posters, go for humor. I have asked a lot of designers to create a powerful poster but I often leave disappointed. They often make bold designs that do not connect with the audience.

It is extremely important to connect with your clients or prospective customers because this is the essence of advertising. Without connection, your print posters are just a waste of time and money. One good reason to add humor in posters is that they add interest. They add value and recognition to your advertisement.

Take the example of the poster of the famous character called Yellow Kid. The image alone of this scruffy-looking, bucked toothed kid will elicit a smile. Add to this the messages printed on his shirt and Voila! You have a humorous poster that makes a strong case. Now, picture this humorous image with a powerful message and you will understand how humor makes an ordinary poster interesting.

Characters, be it an actor playing a role or a cartoon character, add humor to any poster printing. You can use either real characters or cartoon characters – just be sure that you have permission from the creator or you might get into trouble later on.

If you do not want to use actors, cartoon characters or famous personalities, you can try your hand in creating your own brand character. Brand characters help in brand recognition. Humorous characters will make your poster printing more interesting. They are particularly advantageous if you are engaged in a business involving kids.

Like a good movie or book, any character, be it real or created should be interesting. This is the number one requirement. If you choose a character, choose someone or something that is interesting, different and unexpected. They should have strong personalities, witty and fun. The more colorful the personality, the better it will be for your print posters.

By using humor, your poster printing will grab attention. This strategy will make your poster stand out from the crowd. Good poster makes more money. Now that is not funny. It is serious stuff indeed.
