For a small corporation the process is probably much easier than it is with a larger corporation, but it is not impossible to do something that will appeal to everyone.
The best way to discover food favourites is to ask. Assign your committee members to a specific area and have them offer some choices. If you make a list of those menu items you're looking at you will be able to assess how much popularity they have before you go to the trouble of ordering them if you plan to hire a caterer for the event or hold it at a venue that will include food.
If you have even a couple of people who are allergic to fish you may wish to exclude that from your list because many people who are allergic to seafood can react if they are even in the same room with it or if it accidentally drops into another dish.
When you have finished assessing the favourites of those who are most likely to attend the company Christmas party you wish to choose the most popular items. Even if you're planning to ask people to bring something instead of hiring a caterer you can make a list of menu items you want and have people sign up to bring that dish. By doing it this way you're guaranteed you will at least have everything that people prefer. Once those items are taken care of people are free to bring any other items they may want.
One problem that regularly occurs with company Christmas parties when people are asked to bring something is the lack of a sufficient variety. There is a tendency for people to bring only what they like and forget about others, for instance, you may attend a party where there are no healthy foods yet there are people on diets or diabetics at the event.
It will save a good deal of complaints later if everyone's favourites are considered during the planning stages of the company Christmas event. After all, you want the occasion to be a successful and festive one.
