Tips for coordinating a company Christmas Party

1. Begin coordinating early enough in the year so that you do not have to hurry around at the last minute.

2. Make a list of everything you need and cross off each thing as you complete it. Even if you are distributing duties to different people keep the main list and ask everyone to let you know as they finish. Arranging a Christmas party can be stressful, so you want to make sure you can keep a running tally of what has already been completed and what needs completing.

3. Provide each person who is helping with ideas where to find the things they need. You do not have to do the shopping for them but just be a helpful resource.

4. Be prepared for emergencies for example someone getting sick or having an emergency when they were supposed to be helping. Always have a back up plan in case of an emergency.

5. Each person who is part of the Christmas party coordinating committee should fully understand his or her job. Ensure you are always on hand in case there are any questions or points you have to clarify.

6. Schedule regular meetings with your committee. You can use these meetings to check progress as well as respond to any questions that anyone may have. You can begin with monthly meetings and schedule them more regularly as it gets closer to the date of your Christmas party.

7. If the party of off-site make sure everyone knows where the venue is and will be able to guide others if the need arises. Encourage your committee to do a trial run to the venue so that they won't be late when it's time for the party.

8. Assign your committee jobs even throughout the pre-planning stage. Each person can be responsible for checking costs for various things that are imperative when coordinating a Christmas party. Perhaps one person can price venues, another can price decorations and the others can divide the food items.

9. Before you begin coordinating the company Christmas party, make a decision about budget. Will the workers share the price or will there be a budget to support the whole party? If so, what is achievable within that budget?

10. Decide what type of entertainment you want to have. This is something that should be voted upon by the committee as well as the team members of the company and be suitable for all team members.
