A Cellulite Cream that Actually Works - and How to Make it Yourself!
I’ve got a wedding to go to soon and I’ve been trying to find the right
dress for ages. You know how it is, nothing is quite right, too short, too
tight, too flowery. Anyway a couple of weeks ago I thought I found it – it
was perfect! I was so pleased, took it off in the changing room then as I
was getting dressed I caught a glimpse of my bum in the mirror. Oh
wow, all I could see was dimples! Well that was it, I didn’t want the
dress, I didn’t want to shop, I just wanted to get out and find a solution.
I have spent an absolute fortune over the years on expensive creams,
body wraps, gadgets to pummel my thighs until they are red raw, all with
little effect.
Surely something must work?
Well an aromatherapist I know gave me a cream to try and after 2 weeks
I can see a huge difference. My skin is smoother, tighter and the dreaded
dimples are much less pronounced. So what is this great cream? Does it
cost an arm and a leg?
No, and I will tell you exactly how to make it.
Firstly buy a cheap bottle of plain body lotion, I got a vitamin E one in
Boots which was a hugely expensive 77p! Superdrug also do a very good
basic lotion. Make sure it is as plain as possible, unscented and liquid
rather than cream.
Your local health food shop will almost certainly sell essential oils, you will
need a bottle of Rosemary and a bottle of fennel. They must be pure,
essential oils, not just fragrances and not mixed with anything else.
For every 2ml of lotion you need 1 drop of essential oil. The body lotion I
used contains 150ml so I use 75 drops of oils. Into the (150ml) body
lotion, add 45 drops of fennel and 30 drops of Rosemary oil. Remember if
your bottle of lotion is a different size, amend the number of drops
accordingly. Shake vigorously (good arm workout into the bargain!)
You don’t need to use this 3 times a day or massage yourself for 30
minutes a day, just use in place of your normal body lotion, daily, after a
shower or bath. If you have an extra minute to massage in this will help,
otherwise just slather it on. Because it will be a fairly liquid lotion, it sinks in quickly so you don’t need to wait ages before getting dressed.
Make this part of your routine and you will soon see a difference.
Please remember, essential oils are STRONG. If you have very sensitive
skin, use less oils (maybe 50 drops per 150ml lotion) and do not use on
broken skin.
So while we are tackling cellulite with this fab cream what else
can we do?
Well drink loads of water. This keeps skin plump, filling out dimples.
Of course the boring things also make a difference. A healthy diet, with
as little ‘toxins’ as possible will help. Keep alcohol, fast foods and fizzy
drinks to a bare minimum and have loads of fruit, vegetables and lean
protein like fish and tofu.
Exercise keeps the muscles firm and toned so minimize the appearance of
dimply fat.
Generally all the things we should be doing to look after our health!
Green vegetables are very good at helping to get rid of cellulite. We
should be having at least 2 or 3 servings of vegetables a day anyway (and
2-3 of fruit), so make one of them green. Dandelion leaves are great,
tasty and nutritious but also support the liver in removing toxins from the
body.
Try this lovely salad for dinner:
Mix together a big bowl of spinach, rocket, watercress and dandelion
leaves.
Top with a few radishes, cherry tomatoes and a chopped red pepper.
Drizzle over some good olive oil, balsamic vinegar and sprinkle with
pepper.
Serve with a piece of grilled salmon and a couple of baby new potatoes.
Keep the skins on the potatoes as a lot of the nutrients are just under the
skin.
Yum, what a perfect summer meal!
Have a healthy week, and let me know how the cream works, I’m off to
see if that dress is still there.
