The Kettlebell and Your Pool - 2 Drills You Can Implement For a Hard-Hitting Aquatic Experience!

Training with kettlebells most often requires the use of some outdoor space because of it's dynamic nature. If you are like me though and live in a super hot climate then you may enjoy spending time in the water. This, of course, can be applied to an indoor area as well. Check out the following 2 kettlebell drills that you can apply in the pool to chisel your body into a fitness work of art!

    1. The Double-Arm Swing (Aqua Swings): This is a great addition to your aquatic workout to help you build a phenomenal amount of conditioning and rock hard muscle. To start, you will want to make sure that you are in the pool on a level surface with the depth of the water coming up to the level of your abdomen. From here place the bell directly between your feet. Perform a squat and pick up the bell. Stand with your arms straight and keep your shoulders retracted. Next, perform the hip snap motion to build the momentum up in order to swing the bell. Make sure that you smoothly and powerfully extend and flex your hips and knees in order to build up enough momentum to force the bell up out of the water. You will quickly realize just how challenging the resistance of the water can be in combination with the bell. This is a definite success for fat-loss.

    2. The Clean and Jerk (Aqua Clean and Jerk): This is the kettlebell training drill for the Summer. Start out in the pool the same exact way as I pointed out with the double-arm swing. With the bell between your feet squat down and clean the bell from the ground to your chest (This is describing a single bell lift). In one forceful movement explosively jerk (push press) the kettlebell up out of the water and lock it out over your head! Perform 5 to 10 of these on each arm with moderately heavy bell. This is very different than performing on dry land. You are constantly fighting against varying resistance of water. Give this a try and watch your weight-loss campaign become a huge success!
