City Guide To Manila In Philippines

When the Filipinos use the word Manila they are usually referring to Metro Manila. Metro Manila is the city of Manila itself plus 17 other cities and their suburbs. These collectively make up the metropolis of Metro Manila. Manila is among the favourite destinations in the hearts of many worldwide tourists.

The people of Manila are among the friendliest people in the world; perhaps the reason they are so successful in the hospitality industry. Most Filipinos speak good English, are well educated, good-humoured and ambitious. The Filipino people understand suffering and what it means to struggle for freedom. Their graciousness stems from their gratitude for the survival and success of their city.

Contact local tour operators to make travel arrangements for activity holidays in Manila. Avoid travelling to Manila in September and October because this is the typhoon season. However, any other time is a good time to schedule activity holiday tours with local tour operators. Worldwide travellers have learned local tour operators offer the best rates on airfares and accommodation in Manila.

Among the things to do to fill the hours of your activity holidays are sightseeing at the historic sites such as Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila Bay and Manila Cathedral.
Visit the museums and see the many items related to the history and culture of Manila. Shopping is always a great pastime to add excitement to activity holidays. Among all the shopping sites available are; The Ayala Centre Malls, Podium Mall, Hobbes and Landes, Gallery of Prints, antique shops and a market! Market!

Among the more strenuous things worldwide tourists are doing is going to Gold’s Gym, which has spas and health clubs; Intremuros Golf Club (18 holes) and Power Smash where you can play tennis, racquet ball or several other sports. While Manila has no beaches there are some wonderful beaches nearby in Anilao and Matabangukay. Both beaches have clean white sand plus notably beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The two-hour drive or bus ride is worth the effort.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport is called Manila Airport by most people. It is a full service airport having two terminals. Terminal 1 is the international terminal and Terminal 2, the Centennial Terminal, is used only by Philippines Airlines, both domestic and international arrivals and departures. Terminal 3 is under construction to replace Terminal 1 sometime in 2009.

The airport offers many amenities including conference and business facilities; several restaurants; coffee shops; snack bars and bars in Terminal 1. Duty-free shops and retail shops are in the international terminal. A 24 hour medical centre, chapels and a pharmacy are also available for all passengers.

Ground transportation includes bus service, taxis, and car hire; jeepneys take passengers from the airport to the metrorail terminal a short distance from the airport. Check out the destination guide at http://www.puretravel.com/Guide/Asia/South-East_Asia/philippines
