Fishing In The Waters and Seas Of Exmoor

Exmoor is one of the finest areas for fishing as it can offer the opportunity to fish in both fresh and sea environments and usually at reasonable prices. It can provide some real challenges for the seasoned fisherman as well as being an easier spot for beginners and provides many opportunities throughout the day, from the early risers to the last thing at dusk.

In Exmoor, most of the fresh water fishing is gaming fishing, but there are a handful of coarse fisheries also available on private lakes connected to certain B&B's, cottages or farms. The choice of gaming fish is quite extensive including wild brown, stocked, rainbow, grayling and sea trout along with salmon. One of the best things about fishing in Exmoor is just how unspoilt the surrounding areas are and the fishing is always quiet and not crowded. The waters are usually accessible with short notice and self serve, day permits with such a long bank to explore. The Rivers Barle, Little Exe and Lyn are great for getting lost at fishing all day.

If you prefer to search in bays or smaller inlets of larger waters then try Winbleball and Clatworthy Reservoirs but if your more energetic then there is a fresh water salmon run to fish in East Lyn. If your are new to fly fishing or trying to introduce your partner or children then there is very gentle relaxing fishing in the larger lake in Exe Valley at Exebridge.

Some of the fisheries are open all year long but the best season to fish is between March and October.
