Guadalmina Golf on the Costa del Sol Golf, Spain consists of two different golf courses - Guadalmina Sur (south course) and Guadalmina Norte (north course)
Guadalmina Golf course is the second oldest club on the Costa del Sol, Spain which opened in 1959 as a nine-hole course.
The original South golf course was designed by Javier Arana, who extended it to a 18 hole par 72 in the late 1960s. The 10th and 11th hole of Guadalmina south run along the sea, and the course is bordered by well established trees.
It is renowned for being an extremely tough golf course, so it is only really recommended for expert players. There are few water or earth hazards but the vegetation is abundant and it’s very easy to lose the ball. The 4th and the 16th are especially tricky.
Guadalmina Golf north course (18 holes, par 71) opened in 1973, and was designed by Folco Nardi. This course is gentler than its predecessor, but no less interesting, and it is quite tight in places. t is easier but it contains more water hazards and the terrain is more hilly with several slopes. The 7th and the 14th are especially tricky and are bordered by water.
Guadalmina Golf has hosted the PGA European Tour Qualifying School several times in the last few years, giving the course international recognition.
For practice, Guadalmina Golf has both a driving range and a nine hole pitch and put course. Other sporting facilities include tennis and paddle tennis courts. There is also a swimming pool set in a beautiful landscape garden.
