Creatine Information -- The Top Five Reasons to Use Creatine

1. Creatine causes muscles to retain water.
Creatine drives water into muscles, this creates a cell volumizing effect. Critics of creatine often claim that weight gain from creatine is all water weight. What these people neglect to mention is that muscles are made up of about 75% water; therefore, creatine actually helps you attain bigger, fuller muscles.

2. Creatine increases muscular strength and power.
Creatine has been shown to give muscles more ATP (chemical energy), this allows you to lift heavier and push harder. Complicated Explanation - During muscle movements, ATP (Adenosine-Tri-Phosphate) loses a phosphate molecule in a metabolic process which creates energy. This ATP is thus converteded to ADP or Adenosine-Di-Phosphate (Triphosphate minus one phosphate equals Diphosphate). To generate more energy for muscles movements, there must be more ATP available to undergo the "metabolic energy creating process". The new ADP molecules must therefore be converted back to ATP. When ATP levels are low, creatine provides a source of phosphate; this phosphate is added to ADP and henceforth creates ATP molecules.

3. Creatine increases performance in explosive movements.
Studies show that athletes on creatine jump higher, sprint faster, and hit harder. The University of Nottingham conducted a study which proved that after five days of taking creatine, athletes showed significant increases in muscle strength. These increases were not seen in the group of athletes who took a placebo for five days. This shows how fast creatine can work... Five days to a stronger body!

4. Creatine stimulates production and release of Insulin-like Growth Factors.
IGF’s are natural hormones which increase muscle growth. They create an anabolic effect - in which your body does not break down muscle for energy, but rather builds up muscle.

5. Creatine is SAFE.
Unlike other substances which can provide similar results, creatine is legal and safe. Visit http://creatinetaking.blogspot.com/2009/05/safety-of-creatine-taking.html to read about the Safety of Creatine Taking, before you decide to supplement with creatine.
