| Unorthodox Exercise - 2 Hard-Hitting Exercise Drills That Don't Fit the Model of So-Called Tradition |
I am sick and tired of seeing people complain about not getting results in their workouts, yet they continue to use and implement the same old plan that causes their complaints. The definition of insanity is to repeat the same action over and over and expect a different result! If your workouts are the same thing all of the time you will get the same result! Consider the following couple of unorthodox training drills that will surely shock your body into improvement.
1. Sandbag Clean and Throws: Now this is an exercise you can perform in your front yard to give your neighbors a good laugh, but will get you big results! To start, get a sandbag. You can make your own, visit Home Depot, or even order these through fitness companies online. They are just like any other weighted object and come in varying weights. This concept is easy, but highly effective. Start by standing over the bag with your feet shoulder-width distance apart. In one continuous movement squat down to grab the bag on the sides and clean the bag up to your chest in one swift movement. Next, engage your hips by sitting your rear back (like a quarter squat) and then explosively almost jump and throw the bag straight up in the air above your head. Allow it to fall to the ground and then repeat the movement for the desired number of reps.
2. Sandbag Drags: This drill will also get your wife yelling at you until you make her try it then she'll be too out of breath to do anymore yelling. Anyway, this drill will require the bag and some good rope. Preferably you want a thicker rope that you can secure around the bag and get a good grip on. Next, you want to grab the rope with your body facing the bag and simply back pedal while dragging the bag the desired distance through the yard. I don't care how silly it looks, its unorthodox. Just get away from the so-called traditional workout and step up your fitness training.
