While an employee might hear a lecture on company rules and quickly forget what he heard the next day, seeing a role playing scenario in which his buddy pretends to be an irate customer will be remembered for a long time to come.

There is no limit as many ideas can be adapted for your team building use. You may wish to feature a role playing scenario for training in management. What better way to highlight the high pressure job of a manager than to illustrate the style of clients that you will have to be dealing with?

An event to try
This exercise will be helpful in improving communications and is perfect for groups of twelve or less. (Larger groups can be broken into teams) Ask the participants to deliver or plan a short team brief, which is an instructional announcement to the entire team. The subject of the brief must be a controversial work related subject, for example smoking laws, employee only areas, restrictions of certain rights or reserved parking. Plan a range of scenarios and observe the different approaches each player takes to the matter. For more interaction try a question and response session from the audience where players must respond to questions in a professional way. A review of the brief is a great way to complete the event off, as regards speech, tone, clarity and any legality.
Always utilise great judgment and avert, events that might upset people, particularly if you are working with younger staff. Role playing is fun and beneficial it might be just what you have to strengthen and educate your team.
