Speed Training - 2 Great Drills to Explosively Increase Your Speed!

Speed training is an interesting concept these days that we often hear in the world of sports performance. The truth is that a good speed training program can not only enhance your speed as far as performance, but it is a great way to overall condition the body. There are several ways to increase one's speed performance. The most effective application to doing this usually involves loading or resisting the body in some way. Check out these 2 drills that you can implement to optimize your own ability in gaining mind-blowing speed performance.

1. Resisted Harness Runs: This is a rather simple concept, but an intense way to build up your explosive running power. To do this you will need 2 things. You will need both a partner to help and a resistance harness. You can find a good harness through several companies online and in some sporting goods stores. To start, you need to find an open flat space with plenty of running room. Mark off about 10-15 yards and put on the harness. Have your partner pose as an anchor on the end of the harness to provide resistance as you begin to run. Once you are ready get a good body-lean and dig in to run. You want to pump and drive your knees and arms to get as many repetitions in before you reach the opposite end. Killer workout my friends!

2. Bound Into Sprints: This is a fantastic drill that doesn't require any equipment whatsoever. Again all you need is substantial flat running space. Start out at a distance of about 20 yards. Begin this drill by jumping or bounding as high and far as you can with several bounds in a row covering the first 10 yards of the marked off area. Once you complete bounding the first 10 yards immediately transition from bounding right into a full sprint for the remaining 10 yards. This will turn you into an athletic speed-demon! Don't let up and try to be as smooth as possible throughout the bounds.
