How Trivia fun and games Can aid With Team Building

How the Trivia Game Works
There are no real rules to the proverbial trivia game. Some formats are handled very simplistically. Think of a quiz show format, with answers instead of questions and with contestants having to buzz in before they are allowed to speak. Other formats might be more regulated, resembling the popular board game Trivial Pursuit. Some trivia games could introduce new rules altogether, based on the team manager's personal (and hopefully strategic) preferences. A note of caution: be careful not to produce any trivia game too complex. When you lose the simplicity of a game, you commence to lose the audience.

What will be the theme of your trivia game? You may be selecting the exercise as a team building or ice breaker event, not necessarily related to work. In this case you could concentrate on such popular general topics as entertainment, sports, history or geography. More career minded players may appreciate special categories however, like science, mathematics, computer science or vocabulary and literature. One very impressive feat would be to work in trivia questions directly related to your industry, such as, a football team would be thrilled to answer sports trivia question, whereas a team of entrepreneurs would appreciate trivia questions related to their organization and business theory and history.

Some Notes On Planning Trivia Games
One imperative aspect to remember about trivia games is the logistical side of the exercise. Remember to bring plenty of trivia questions and answers and to decide upon a simple set of rules. Instructions must be read to the group with a pause to create sure everyone understands how the game operated. If you plan to include prizes then ensure to bring them to the event and store them in a convenient destination. Expect problems that might come up throughout game play. Such as if you plan on using a buzzer system, how will you determine who responds first? Will you choose from several hands or is there another way to determine speed?

Try rotating the game so that everyone gets to play, along with more shy players. A rotational system might work best, since it permits players to compete against each other at a more relaxed pace, rather than several people battling it out at once.

The most imperative point to note is that all games must be related to team building. Even if the subject matter is not work related, there must be a constructive aspect of team building being demonstrated and you as the educator must be explaining the justification for this gaming exercise. Trivia games are a fun and productive way to lighten up the office.
