Rock Icon Slash Plans A New Solo Album

He’s one of those musicians who represent the true spirit of old-school rock, the type that never dies. Slash fans will be delighted to know that the musician plans to record a solo album, either going solo while featuring different vocalists on it, or working on a third Velvet Revolver album.

The artiste even commented that he might also just do both ! He will start recording in early 2009 and reportedly told Billboard that he’s “at the very tail of the demo phase”.

“There’s really no particular direction. I just wanted to take a little bit of a break from all the politics and the democracy that is a band and just sort of do my own thing for a little bit.

There will be a lot of stuff I don’t have the freedom to do in a band situation,” he said while adding that he starting coming up with material during Velvet Revolver’s last tour. The resulting music will have a definite influence of his with the Velvet Revolver and with Guns ‘n’ Roses.

“They’re all sort of well-known singers,” he said about recording with different vocalists on the album.

“It’s sort of like how I go play on a lot of other people’s records, so other people will just play on this one. “He remains tight-lipped about which vocalists he intends on featuring.

However the musician made it clear that the work on the album will be interrupted if the Velvet Revolver manages to find a new vocalist, in place of Scott Weiland.

“There’s such a huge lack of integrity in that process,” he said when suggested that they do the search via a televised reality show. He is however open to the possibility of including a well-known singer adding that, “There’s been a couple that might have been interesting.

But with any of those ‘name’ people…. it’s really hard to make something sound original if you’ve got somebody people are so familiar with hearing some where else”
