Things To Ask Yourself About Your Business Card

The first step towards improving your print business cards is to sit down and ask yourself a few basic questions about them. I’d say that before you print business cards at all you should ask yourself these questions in order to see if you need to improve anything.

The first question is when was the last time a person stopped upon seeing your business card and complimented you on it? Yes, this does happen if you have a good enough business card. Too often most business cards just get swept under the rug as nothing of interest. A person calmly looks at them briefly before slipping them into their pocket, and that’s the most attention that card ever really gets.

You should aim to create a card that gets people interested. When someone starts complimenting you on your business cards you know you’ve done something right.

The next question is when the last time was you changed your business card.

It isn’t very expensive to print business cards these days, which means you can easily change up your card without breaking your marketing budget. Even the best card starts to lose its impact after enough time. When you’re going to a constant stream of tradeshows you’re likely to be seeing the same people over and over again. Each time you do and each time you hand them the same card you’re wasting an opportunity. All it takes is varying up your card a little to increase a person’s interest.

Next ask yourself how personal your business card is. Some of this has to do with the company name and logo you have on your card, but go beyond those basic steps to figure out ways to make your business card more centered around you. When you print business cards you’re creating something that’s going to represent who you are when you aren’t around people anymore.

Try to find some way to make your color business card particularly personal. This might have to do with making more of a custom business card, or even adding something like your picture to the front of the card. I’ve seen plenty of cards before where a person literally put their picture on the front of it. Not only do you come away with a nice color business card, but you also get something memorable.

Along those same lines, ask yourself how memorable your card is. If someone just takes a glance at your card, will it be enough to get them to remember you even if months go by before the next time they look at your card?

If you’re making sure to vary up your card and to make it stand out when compared to other cards, you’ll be on the right path towards a great card. The more your card represents you and your business, and the easier it is to remember who you are from your card, the better your business card will be at doing its job.
