| How I Made AUD$478 Million in 1 Month |
So, how did I make all this money?
It turns out I have a lot of relatives who have died in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin who have left me almost $37 Million. Who knew? Not bad for a girl who was born in Scotland and now lives in Australia. Mate – I don't even know where Benin is.
And then there are all these rich people who go to Africa and Asia, deposit huge sums of money in the Government banks, and then die leaving no next of kin. Word must have got around that I'm flush with cash, as I got 13 offers to stand in as next of kin, and rake in over $207 Million.
Then there's the luck factor. I won over $22.5 Million in online lotteries – they should call me "Lucky Di". Wish I could do that in the real world!
The thing that surprises me is that we, in the western world, seem to think that some of these central African countries are economic basket cases, when in fact they are so flush with cash they can't give it away! I was offered over $21 Million in "contractor payments" from various countries in Africa. I must say I don't recall ever having set foot in those countries, never mind worked there.
I was also offered over $102 Million in "business transactions" – and that was just my share – money laundering on a grand scale!
But my favourite was from a 25 year old woman from England who wanted me to marry her (or if I was a woman, to stand in as next of kin for her late father) so could claim her inheritance. Seems she is dying from cancer, but can't claim her inheritance before 30 unless she is married, or someone who can speak on behalf of her late father says it's OK. She offered to go 50/50 on the inheritance. What a champ!
So - $478 Million in 30 days – not bad for a month's "work".
As I'm sure you've already guessed, these offers were all spam emails. I don't know about you, but I get a lot of spam in my Inbox. A lot of that spam is from people trying to "give" me money. I used to delete them, but I thought I'd keep track of these emails for 1 month, to see just how much money I could make!
I was pretty selective about what I tracked. If the email wasn't clear on what my split would be, or exactly how much was involved, they weren't counted. I was pretty shocked at the end of the month to see just how much I had amassed – shame it's not for real, although I believe some people still fall for these scams.
And the point of this story?
Don't take money too seriously.
I'm not sure why you decided to read this article. Maybe you thought it was an amusing article (which hopefully it is), but if you read this thinking maybe you could make that sort of money ....... think again. Not even Bill Gates makes that sort of money.
Be grateful for what you have, desire only what you need, help those you can.
