Golfing Myrtle Beach
Every November 24 of the best average golfers from Ontario Canada head on down to Myrtle Beach South Carolina for our yearly golf vacation. Why Myrtle Beach? The change from Ontario weather and of course, the great golfing.
With 24 Canadian golfers on route to the fabulous Myrtle Beach, some tend to drive while others flew. This was the year I flew. Getting an inexpensive cheap flight directly into Myrtle Beach Airport was difficult at a reasonable price. We drove from Ontario Canada into Buffalo International Airport where we had a connecting flight from Detroit Michigan. The layover was short. On route to Myrtle Beach for a total return cost of $200 Canadian dollars.
The other boys tend to drive. It takes approximately 15 hours from Ontario Canada to arrive in Myrtle Beach on the way down. Due to being exhausted and plain old worn out, 17 hours to drive home. At approximately 1400 kms, a very inexpensive way to get to the courses.
Myrtle Beach offers many golfing packages but the one we have stayed at for the past 16 years has been The Caribbean Resort. For $400 US dollars, we received 7 breakfasts, 7 rounds of golf and accommodations for 7 nights. Wow, what a deal. Every condo contained two bedrooms, two washrooms, three televisions, washer and dryer, fridge, microwave at a very posh posh atmosphere. There has never been an issue with the service nor cleanliness of our rooms.
The golf courses are simply phenomenal. We played Myrtle Beach National, which has three 18 hole courses within that facility. The course designer, Arnold Palmer simply out did himself. All three courses, West Course, South course and North Course are playable by the average to professional alike, offering 5 different tee boxes. The scenery is second to none with water and tons of sand traps. The North course has the world’s most famous par 5. A par 5 hole with an island fairway smack dap right in the middle of the lake. The low handicap golfers always seem to choose the outside path while us high handicappers aim for the island fairway in order to reach the par 5 in two enabling an eagle opportunity.
We also played the following courses, River’s Edge, Litchfield Golf and Country Club, Long Bay, Aberdeen Golf and country Club and lastly, Waterway Hills. I can’t say enough about the course conditions for the month of November.
The everyday routine had us up anywhere between 7 and 9 in the morning to shower, and head on down to breakfast. Breakfast is whatever your heart deemed on eating. We then proceed back to the condo to obtain our clubs, hop into the vehicles and head on to the course for a day of frustration. After golfing is complete, dinner is wherever we drive to. After filling our faces, some of the boys just head on back to the condo for a hot tub and nap, while the younger boys head on out to the night life spots.
It is a very enjoyable vacation with just the boys, the play a good game of golf and talk an even better one.
Me personally, I love the game and review a lot of the lessons, instructions and review the golf tournaments within my own personal blog. I find it good reading and very informative. You can read by reviews at http://golfmemo.blogspot.com.
I thank you so much for the interest and good luck with your game.
