| What Is The Big Idea? |
The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Watch the first step, it is a dozy. If you listened to all the witty sayings and sage advice casually passed around you would think that the first step of any venture was the single most important step and all the subsequent steps flowed naturally from it. In the dog eat dog world of business, though, the follow through is equally important and countless business ventures have fallen apart midway through thanks to weak implementation or planning. This is doubly true for small businesses and entrepreneurs bringing a new product to market.
So, you have got a thrilling new product that is going to revolutionize the way people think about your industry. Hey, that is great, really. Go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back. Ok, all done? Now how are you planning on informing consumers so they can go ahead and start lining up at your doorstep? Yeah, that’s the tricky part. Fortunately, there are a variety of print marketing solutions to help you move past that first step.
Sure, you could just put the product on the shelf and hope for the best, but that method is not really going to expand your business beyond your current customer base. Instead, start buy incorporating your new ware into your catalog printing. By that, I do not mean just adding it to page 56 at the bottom right corner mixed in with all the other products. Make it a feature item on your front page, or, if you want to be really bold, on your cover. If you have not changed updated your catalog in years this is a good time to freshen up your brand image in the process.
Maybe your product really will revolutionize your industry. It likely would not ever get the chance to, though, if industry insiders are not even aware of the product. Draw up some booklet printing to highlight your product and let everyone know how it is going to shatter their perceptions. Shop those booklets around to vendors or hit up all the trade shows that your product might relate to and get the word out about the revolution.
Another great idea, if your product really is groundbreaking, is to use those booklets as a stepping stone to inform journalists about your latest big thing, in the hopes of getting a little extra free advertising on the local news or in the pages of the Sunday newspaper.
Even if you have invented a perpetual motion machine that will do away with the need for gasoline, letting your invention go unheralded will ensure its failure. The right advertising, on the other hand, can turn your big idea into the next big thing.
