Capture Their Attention With Your Business Card
Make them interested, capture their eye, keep them talking for long after they have walked away.

These are all the kinds of things companies try to apply to their marketing whether it is flyers, brochures, or posters. The point of any advertisement is to get people interested about your company.

But this is not what a lot of companies do when it comes to business cards. They seem to think it does not need to make people interested to do its job. The only point of the card is as a tool to remember you.

Well, how are they supposed to remember who you are by looking at your card months later if your card is not anything unique?

Now, I am not just talking about custom business cards that are completely original. For many companies you just do not want to get too far away from the traditional style or you might find your efforts counter productive. Truly custom business cards just aren’t going to be for everyone.

However, that does not mean you should resign yourself to having nothing but the standard format for your card. You can instill plenty of personality into a card when using some of the more traditional forms.

What information do you have on your business card? Something a lot of people overlook when it comes time to print business cards is the use of something like a company slogan. If you have a catchy company slogan there’s no reason not to put it on your card beneath your name. Here is a perfect opportunity to make your card a little more personalized.

If your company does not have a slogan you can still find a good quote to put on your card that connects with your business. Find something funny, something catchy, maybe a movie quote, anything that makes a person stare at your card for just a few seconds longer, hopefully with a smile on their face.

I have seen business cards that have a longer quote on the back of the card. Find a great quote from a piece of literature that reflects the kind of ideals your company espouses. Get a person thinking. Not only will it increase the odds that a person will remember you, but it shows that you put a lot of thought into what your card had to say.

You might also consider a strong visual motif with either a unique company logo or some other design that stands out. Maybe you can put a picture of yourself on the front of your card, or a picture of your company’s building. If you know of other images that will work well with the industry you’re in then try to put them onto your cards.

All of these ideas help to shape your cards into something different without completely changing the design of them. It does not always take a massive change to turn a business card into something really memorable.

So the next time you decide to print business cards ask yourself what you can do to spice it up a little. Find something that lets your personality shine through, and you will find people will be a lot better at remembering you years down the line.
